Founded in 1907, United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS), headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, is a global leader in logistics, providing solutions for parcel and cargo transportation, international trade facilitation, advanced technology deployment and more to improve the efficiency of global business management.


UPS has a global presence in more than 220 countries and employs more than 530,000 people. 2021 saw UPS reach US$97.3 billion in revenue.

UPS has been listed on the Fortune Global 500 for more than 25 years, and in 2021, UPS was ranked 89th on the Fortune Global 500.

1907 - 1913 Message delivery service founded


On 28 August 1907, Jim Casey and Cloude Ryan found UPS in Seattle, Washington, USA, as the American Messenger Company, offering services such as delivery of telephone messages.
1913 - 1918 Retail delivery business begins

In 1913, UPS shifts its focus to retail delivery and changes its name to the Commercial Parcel Delivery Company.

1918 - 1930 Enter the era of the common carrier

In 1919, UPS expands to Oakland, California, USA and changes its name to United Parcel Delivery Service. From 1922, UPS began offering product shipping services to the public, supporting the delivery of packages to private and commercial addresses.

1930 - 1975 Service expansion and transformation

UPS continues to expand its services and in 1975, UPS becomes the first parcel delivery company to serve every address in the 48 contiguous states of the United States.

1975 - 1990 International growth and UPS Airlines

In 1985, UPS begins international air service between the United States and six European countries, and in 1988, UPS obtains authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration to operate its own aircraft and formally establishes UPS Airlines.

1990 - 1999 Continued innovation

In 1994, UPS launched its website to provide customers with access to internal operational information. The following year, the website offers package shipment tracking services.

1999 - 2010 Global trade and growth


In 1999, UPS goes public and subsequently increases its investment in international services and sustainable practices, acquiring companies to expand its global market channels and becoming the world's leading provider of air, ocean, ground and electronic services.

2010 - 2020 A new era of logistics

UPS uses service optimization and technological innovation to provide convenient and flexible logistics services through a range of products and solutions such as UPS My Choice® and UPS Access Point. 2019 saw the launch of UPS Flight Forward Inc. a subsidiary to develop a commercial drone delivery business, becoming the first company to be fully accredited by the Federal Aviation Administration. the first drone operator to be fully certified by the US Federal Aviation Administration and approved to operate

With a strong logistics network covering more than 220 countries and territories, UPS continues to upgrade our global smart logistics network to support our customers and our own growth in an ever-changing business environment. As a facilitator of global trade, UPS has a highly integrated global services and transportation network that supports a three-dimensional, integrated network of different modes of transportation, allowing for "seamless" intermodal operations between sea, land and air, helping our customers' shipments reach global markets.


UPS has a network of more than 250 owned aircraft and over 290 leased aircraft, serving more than 400 international airports on 1,180 international sectors daily. UPS also has more than 500 supply chain facilities in more than 125 countries and territories. Today, an average of 21.9 million packages per day move around the world through the UPS Global Smart Logistics Network.

Canada and the Americas
UPS has an extensive logistics network in Canada and the Americas, with more than 17,000 employees and over 3,200 service points, including customer counters and authorized shipping locations, to help businesses grow sales across borders. UPS serves more than 50 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, and is a guaranteed delivery carrier for express parcels between Mexico and the US mainland.

Europe
Europe is the world's largest import market and UPS, as one of the world's largest customs brokers, helps companies worldwide to tap into this important market through its strong European presence. UPS's European Cologne Transit Centre at Cologne Bonn Airport, Germany, has a capacity of 190,000 parcels per hour and an expanded area for large express shipments, helping customers to expand their business in key European trade routes. This helps our customers to expand their business in key European trade corridors and improve delivery efficiency.

India, Middle East and Africa
UPS has successfully entered these emerging markets by leveraging its extensive operational experience and reach across the globe. With more than 2,250 employees, over 90 operating facilities and 102 airports served by common carriers, UPS provides logistics services in 70 countries across India, the Middle East and Africa, with an average of 50,475 deliveries per day in 2019. 50,475 deliveries.


Asia Pacific
The Asia-Pacific region is the fastest growing regional economy in the world. It is considered a dynamic and fast-changing region, where the boom in Asian trade contributes to the growth of the global economy, whether through the growth of consumption in emerging economies such as Vietnam and the Philippines, or by creating supply chains that connect Asian and world markets.
