Joe Tus, CEO of EMC Company

Joe Tus is one of the world's ten most influential network figures in 2004, and the winner of the Morgan Stanley Global Business Leader Award in 2004. Joe Tous is the President and CEO of EMC. In the first year of joining EMC, he served as the newly established president and chief operating officer. Since then, he was appointed President and CEO in January 2001. The company is headquartered in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

In 2003, EMC's annual revenue was 6.24 billion US dollars, with 20000 employees worldwide. EMC has always been the global leader in information storage management systems, services and solutions. Help enterprises to mine the maximum information value at the lowest cost in each link of information lifecycle management.

Since joining EMC, Mr. Tus has been committed to strengthening and expanding the company's leading position in the technology and market fields. He did not limit the business of EMC to high-end storage platforms, but expanded the business to provide customers with comprehensive information lifecycle management solutions in the industry. Mr. Tous also led EMC to make continuous progress in the development of open storage management software. He is responsible for the product development and listing of cross platform software, which has won the praise of industry analysts for EMC and is considered to be the most capable provider of comprehensive open storage management software in the industry. In 2003, he led EMC to acquire three independent software suppliers in the industry: Legato, an independent software supplier, which is a leader in the backup, disaster recovery and other storage software markets. Documentum, the leader of enterprise content management software companies, and VMware, the software leader in server virtualization. After joining EMC, TUS acquired 12 software companies.

As CEO, Mr. Tuss signed a five-year cooperation agreement with Dell Computer, which will market EMC CLARiiON storage systems. He expanded the scope of professional services of EMC by developing new partners. Since the end of 2001, he has greatly reduced the company's expenses, effectively increased the company's cash income and investment, and attracted senior managers from other major technology companies to join EMC, strengthening the management ability of EMC's management.

Prior to joining EMC, Mr. Tuss served as Chairman and CEO of Wang Global. He worked in Wang An Computer for six years, bringing the company back to life in business and finance. During his tenure in Wang An Computer Company, Mr. Tus led the company to rise rapidly from the dilemma of applying for bankruptcy protection, and developed from a medium-sized computer manufacturer to a world leading provider of network technology services and solutions, successfully realizing the transformation of the company. Under his leadership, Wang An Company acquired ten companies from 1995 to 1999, and its stock market value also tripled. In June 1999, Wang An Computer was acquired by Getronics NV.

Before joining Wang An Computer in 1991, Mr. Tuss was the president of Unisys Corporation, an American information system company. He has been in this position since 1986, when Sperry and Burroughs merged to form Unisys. When he first entered the industry, Mr. Tous worked for RCA Company, engaged in system programming. Mr. Tous graduated from Manhattan College with an MBA from Columbia University.

Mr. Tous is one of the 150 CEOs of the Business Roundtable and serves as the chairman of the Education and Labor Working Group. He is one of the eight chief executive members leading the computer system policy project team and leading advocacy organizations in the technology industry. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Carroll School of Management of Boston University and the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University in Beijing.
