Intel, one of the world's top ten brands

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA. Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, the founders of Intel, originally hoped that the name of their new company would be Moore Noyce, a combination of two names. However, when they went to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau to register, they found that this name had been preemptively registered by a chain hotel. As a last resort, they adopted the abbreviation of "Integrated Electronics" as the company name. The current senior management is Craig Barrett, Chairman, and Paul Otellini, President and CEO.

With the popularity of personal computers, Intel has become the world's largest technological giant in the design and production of semiconductors.

Origin of establishment

In 1955, William Shockley, the "father of transistors", left Bell Laboratories to establish Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory and attracted many talented young scientists to join. But soon, Shockley's management methods and strange behaviors caused dissatisfaction among employees. Among them, Robert Noyce, Gordon Moore, Julius Blanc, Eugene Claire, Kim Helney, Jay Raster, Shelton Roberts and Victor Grignard, who were called eight rebels by Shockley, resigned and co founded Xiantong Semiconductor Company in October 1957. Andy Grove joined Fairchild Semiconductor in 1963 at the invitation of Gordon Moore.

Due to the rapid development of Fairchild Semiconductor, the internal organization management and product problems are also out of balance. In July 1968, two co founders of Fairchild Semiconductor, Robert Noyes and Gordon Moore, resigned and co founded Intel Corporation in the name of integrated electronics on July 16. Andy Grove also volunteered to follow Gordon Moore's footsteps and become the third employee of Intel.

In Andy Grove's oral autobiography, he said that if he was the third employee of the company, he was "one of the founders of Intel". However, in terms of ownership, since he was not invited to purchase shares at the price of $1, he volunteered to join the staff in the first place.

Important developments

In 1968, Intel was founded, with Robert Noyce as CEO, Gordon Moore as COO, and Andy Grove subsequently joined. In 1971, Intel launched the world's first commercial computer microprocessor 4004. In 1981, Intel 8088 processor became the first personal computing device in the world. In 2001, Intel launched the Xeon processor brand for the data center for the first time, laying a solid foundation for the digital world. In 2003, Intel launched Centrino, creating the era of wireless mobile computing. Intel ranked 51st among the top 500 companies in 2016. In April 2016, Intel introduced the Xeon 7290F processor, which uses up to 72 processor cores, becoming the processor with the largest number of Intel cores. In February 2019, Intel introduced Xeon Platinum 9282, which has 112 threads and is the processor with the most threads. In 2017, Intel established a data centric transformation strategy and opened up a broad market opportunity of US $300 billion. In June 2018, Intel announced that it would accept the resignation of CEO Brian Krzanich, and Bob Swan, the chief financial officer, was appointed as interim CEO. He became the official CEO on January 31, 2019. In January 2021, Intel announced that Pat Gelsinger will become the new CEO, which will take effect from February 15, 2021

In 2020, Intel's revenue reached 77.9 billion US dollars, a record high for five consecutive years [26]. In September 2020, Intel launched a new brand image. In March 2021, Intel announced its IDM 2.0 strategy. On January 5, 2022, Intel officially released the 12th generation Core Mobile Edition, which has three series: H, P and U, respectively for game books, all-purpose books and thin and light books, totaling 28 models.

In February 2022, Mobileye, an autonomous driving department under Intel, announced today that it plans to launch autonomous electric shuttle buses in the United States with its partners in 2024.

On March 14, 2022, the 2022 Game Developers Conference (GDC22) will begin on March 21. Intel has now announced the agenda of its GDC22 conference.

On March 15, 2022, Intel announced that it would invest 17 billion euros in the eastern German city of Magdeburg to build its super chip manufacturing plant in Europe.

INTEL Corporate Culture

An Intel employee described the personality of Intel people: they are more radical and have a sense of initiative.

For example, employees are encouraged to "assume my responsibility". From the job description, they may not be responsible for this matter, but in many cases, some things cannot be clearly defined. Therefore, at Intel, they propose to assume their responsibility actively, which really enables many marginal tasks to be completed.

Perhaps people will feel that in the chip market, Intel is a company without competitors, and it is unnecessary to work so hard to create a competitive atmosphere. Corporate culture is the culture of CEO, and the formation of this culture is closely related to Grove's personality. Paranoid talk is a sense of crisis.
